Dare We Share Our Perspective? Yes! Dare, we must.

A supplement to my Summer Series, as "suppression arguments" come my way...

LOLOL! As the title suggests - don’t forget to share this forward! “Speaking Our Truth” makes human civilizations the best they can be! ❤️

Share

I am 52 years old. I was born in 1972, and the core values I adopted in my youth are largely rooted in the post-civil rights 1970s and 80s.

There is much I could say on that topic, but today I only want to point out one thing.

When I was growing up, the idea of American citizens “gagging themselves” was anathema to what our nation stood for. Bad enough, to be gagged by another (tyranny, authoritarianism, dictatorships) — but FAR WORSE to willingly participate!

Therein lies totalitarianism’s seed.

Yet, things have changed. Today, we are being tossed about by a “cancel culture cyclone” making many American citizens unrecognizable.

Today, I awoke to a Facebook Comment asking me to be silent. I was given several reasons for why I “should not speak my truth.” I wasn’t threatened, but I was warned and “pressured.”

As I mention in the video, the fallacious arguments offered have become ubiquitous to western civilization, rendering them so common as to be seen as logical or common sensical by default. “If so many people say and think this way, then it must be accurate and true, right?”

Wrong.

Holding the “majority position” or “dominating the public square” has never automatically gone hand in hand with accuracy. And it never will.

This is a lesson worth learning, teaching, and remembering during every decade of humanity’s existence.

Indeed — as we move into the uncertain waters of a “Brave New World,” infused with the effects of Artificial Intelligence / High Tech Fakes — what lesson could be more important?

Below are the “suppression arguments” offered to me this morning, and my responses. I’d love to hear your thoughts about these “silencing narratives” in the comments!

Our Thoughts Matter is a reader-supported publication. Thanks for being here! Consider upgrading to “paid,” to access my Summer Series.

FIRST (1) SUPPRESSIVE COMMENT:

So your medical background/ education research is….

You’re peddling your personal thoughts based on what.....

You no better than trump or his "followers” looking for personal profit off others’ misery.

Be very carefully handing out medical advice with no degree/license in it....could bite you in the ass very hard.

Renember....I like you....so tread lightly.

MY (1) RESPONSE:

With that kind of thinking, "we the people" ought not to risk forming or exchanging opinions on any topic, unless we have a piece of paper, sold by Universities, which are believed to determine who is and is not "expert enough" to be allowed to speak on a given topic....that's what you're saying....but do you really believe that?

Probably not.

Your argument is also an excellent one for why none of us (without a degree in political science, economics, or international affairs) should EVER be allowed to vote...as the non-credentialed, non-experts that we are….but do you really believe that?

Probably not.

Finally, your comment presents a presupposition that "all medical experts" are in agreement, which is and always has been patently false...debate and disagreement being a forever trait of academia…with SCIENCE, as a method of exploration, always having the potential to overturn once popular and generally mass-believed concepts.

There is no valid argument to suggest I keep my non-collegiate learning and 30 years of consistent observation of the social engineering surrounding this issue to myself.

SECOND (2) SUPPRESSIVE COMMENT:(Same person, in response to my response.)

ok....but...some kinda smart people have studied an researched this topic for decades.......yes...moms rule the world...but some look to others....some do not....both ok...but....trying to transfer/ pressure ones beliefs onto others....I have questions an respect...both ways

NOTE: I do appreciate the last sentence where he states what I also believe, which is that there are as many right ways to do something as there “are people doing.” In fact, Part Four of my Summer Series (coming out this Sunday - upgrade today!) deals specifically with that point.

But my response below focuses on his use of the word “pressure.” Also, this person is not a paid subscriber and has not seen the first three parts of my summer series. If he had, he would already know that my summer series is the opposite of “pressuring.”

MY (2) RESPONSE:

Are you trying to pressure me right now?

"Pressure" is an interesting way to describe a person sharing their life experiences and offering ideas and wisdom gained through life's journey.

Are you sure you want to define "sharing, communicating, offering, and gifting one's knowledge and perspective" as PRESSURE?

THANKS FOR BEING A SUBSCRIBER! I FEEL PROUD OF MY SUMMER SERIES, AS IT DISTILLS DOWN DECADES OF EXPERIENCE INTO TRUE NUGGETS OF EMPOWERING SELF-KNOWLEDGE.

💛❤️ Enjoy…
