I think it's super awesome that the Fourth of July is happening on a Friday this year. I want as many people to be able to fully celebrate and enjoy this holiday, because it is the most important holiday in the United States of America.
As many of you know, I recently returned from South Korea. I really appreciate South Korea. I really enjoyed myself, while I was in South Korea as a visitor. I admire so much that the South Koreans have done since the war, and I admire deeply what the Korean people have been doing on the peninsula and upward into the mainland over the past 2,000-3000 years. Longer, but archaeological records only go back so far.
However, I am not Korean, I am not a citizen of the current government, and I didn't grow up there, so I don't understand the culture. I am a foreigner, and when I think about how much I would enjoy living in South Korea, when I think about what I might want to do with my life now that I have a chance to live freely, post divorce, my first thought goes to whether or not the people of South Korea will ALLOW me to live in their country.
This is exactly how I feel about Albania, which I visited and greatly appreciated. It's how I feel about Thailand, which has strict rules limiting all land purchase to people of Thai descent, only.
I think about Australia (where I wouldn't want to go back), where Americans need to get a Visa in order to visit. All over the world, people understand the importance of national borders, citizenship, and the importance of controlling those borders, and intentionally deciding with care and caution and wisdom, who does and does not get to come into THEIR country.
Who does and does not receive the gift of an extended visa, a student visa, a work visa, or if you are extraordinarily lucky and unusual, the radical gift of citizenship in a culture and a society and a country that is not your own.
Every single country on the planet today has a history filled with human migration, and those migrations were, historically, always violent.
They wanted to kill you, they wanted to take your land and your farms and your animals and your wives and your daughters and your houses and your boats and your fishing territory and your horses and your castles and they wanted it for themselves.
They were terrified and fleeing someone who had done violence to them, and they were desperate enough to invade your land in order to take all of those things because they were the victims of someone else's greed.
They were morally bankrupt and willing to do anything to you and yours in order to turn a profit and go home wealthy, leaving your land destroyed, and your society broken.
They were poor and ignorant, and had no skills other than the capacity to wield a sword and cause death, and they sold themselves as a mercenary, perhaps with no goals at all, because they simply didn't know what else to do with their lives.
Or even more terrifying, they were driven by an ideological belief that GOD wanted them to annihilate you, capture your government, burn your religious institutions to the ground, destroy any knowledge you might possess that they didn't agree with, and take over YOUR LAND— all for the glory of THEIR God.
The only alternative to all of these different forms, methods, and circumstances of violent territorial expansion or migratory movement, is what we have today.
We have the capacity, in many situations, to control our borders so effectively that we can say NO to people who arrive for many of these violent reasons, and we can say YES to people who arrive for peaceful, constructive, and positively contributing purposes.
This is not the case in all countries today.
Israel did not have the ability to control its borders on October 7, 2023. Ukraine did not have the ability to control its borders, when Russia invaded. The people of the Korean Peninsula did not have control over their borders when Chinese/Communist forces moved through the entire peninsula, reaching as far south as Busan.
And, we have seen that both the European Union and the United States of America can also fail to manage national borders, under certain circumstances.
In particular, during the four years of the Biden administration, the southern border was completely neglected, it was intentionally turned into a worthless line on a map serving no real purpose as millions of people from dozens of countries arrived (undocumented or with false documents), and due to domestic failures, these invaders were bussed, flown, trucked (and sex trafficked) into the deep interior parts of our nation.
By our own government.
By traitors to the United States of America masquerading as government officials (IMO).
More could be said on this topic but the central point is this:
The people of all nations, including the United States of America, have every sovereign right to decide who can and cannot enter their country.
There is nothing shameful or immoral or wrong about having a system that guarantees that the people who enter the country are properly identified and are CHOSEN by a system of rules and expectations that determines their readiness for arrival and their capacity to become educated citizens who value and respect our country.
We want people who understand what it means to be an American and who are committed to the dreams of this nation.
Millions of people enter the United States of America legally. They go through a rigorous process to become citizens, they learn our language, they study the way our government works, and they pass a test proving they understand the USA.
They show how they’ll land with both feet on the ground — usually they have a sponsor within the country who takes on some level of responsibility for their success.
This system is designed to strengthen our nation, one LEGAL, VETTED, and WELCOME immigrant at a time.
The people who sneak across the border illegally, who show no respect for our laws, who choose to cut in line in front of their fellow country men who are waiting back home for permission to enter our country?
These people can be generally good human beings, and loving and kind people, but they're going about it the wrong way. PERIOD. HARD STOP.
I have a suggestion. It’s not easy, but it’s the best option on many levels.
IF you don't like the country you were born into, shouldn’t you stay and join with all the other people who don't like it and work your hardest to do what George Washington and the other founders of our nation did back in 1776?
IF you don't like the country you were born into, shouldn’t you declare your independence from whoever is harming your nation and your fellow people, organize and reclaim — your land?
The land your parents were born on? The culture you understand and the society you belong to?
IF you don't like the country you were born into, shouldn’t you take care of business at home, rather than running away and trying to get into another country where the people who live there have been taking care of business and are doing the hard work of managing their government and have achieved a system that you prefer over your own?
COPY US! Don’t invade us.
All that is currently what I'm doing here in the state of Washington. I can't stand the extremely dominant Democratic party control in Washington state. I know enough of them, I've been deeply enough involved, there is collusion, there is ruthlessness, there is ideological radicalism, and it is not a good scene. Some very, very dangerous and immoral people are working together and successfully taking control of the government of Washington state. MY STATE.
For my fellow Washingtonians, who throw their hands in the air, who were deprived of the right to work during Covid, who decide to leave the state and go elsewhere, I respect your decision. I might be following you!
But, my preference is to stay and work for a better Washington State.
And, everyone I know is staying within the country. They may have moved from one state to another, but we are Americans and we are doing the best we can to make the USA a better country, a stronger country, more logical, more free, more honest!
It’s not easy and it is messy, and we may fail, but we're still trying.
However, that said, Washington state is currently an exodus state. That's new, and it may change again soon, but for a few years there a lot more people were arriving than leaving, and A LOT of them were from California, and A LOT of them brought their California voting habits with them.
The Washington state of 35 years ago was dramatically different than the Washington state of today.
Every time a real solid American citizen gives up on Washington state and “go east, young man go east!” Every time that happens, it becomes harder for us to bring balance back to Washington state.
So imagine how people in Kenya or South Africa or Ecuador or Nicaragua or China are feeling when they know that tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands or even millions of their fellow citizens are fleeing the country and leaving them to clean up the mess?
This holiday means a lot, so give President Kennedy's challenge some attention and thought today. Ask not what your Country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!
