Oh yes it has. Take a train ride in the spring (now-ish) and you realize how far it has gone beyond the highways...clear cutting is an invitation to scotchbroom infestation, as well...
There’s always a way. A bit longer but better. It’s the same with Blackberries gone wild in Vic Aus, fence it off, get some goats, they love it. Then either keep the goats process them or sell them. And repeat if necessary. Worked for me 😎👌
Indeed!!! I found that it was really good to have ruminants and a garden at the same time, because the manure, of course means that you don't have to buy compost or even fertilizer very much.
Add in chickens, and the chickens will dig through the horse manure, making it breakdown faster, and adding the chicken manure into the horse manure because it's hot will cause it to also breakdown faster and so on and so forth!
It seems like we're doing something special, but it's just what mother nature does which is blending worms, and insects and birds and mammals and plants and sunlight and oxygen and carbon dioxide altogether and guess what great things happen! 😎
Yes. I am very grateful. I grew up moving constantly with divorced parents who forever moved themselves, so I went to 17 different schools by the time I graduated from High School...I lived in about 30 different homes by the time I arrived here, and having my sons grow up in one home from the ages of 3 and 6 has been a wonderful dream come true. The property is on an island, and for a long time the inconvenience of ferry life kept prices low and we were lucky that my husband's corporate employers decided to shut down the office and ask his team (which was scattered across the continent anyway) to all work from home...so, with my Mom's help, we bought a house that could always have a room for her, as well, and here we are. The "property value" in the eyes of predatory sellers (the real estate market combined with the government seeking to increase tax revenue) is about twice what we paid 21 years ago, but the real worth of the home and the land is not monetary at all. It's the living creatures, plant and animal, that live together seamlessly and our family's memories, along with our loved ones who have passed (pets and my parents' ashes) who are buried here...now, we'll see if I am to find myself "homeless" once again, as well as my sons losing their childhood home...or not? It's an adventure. Best to never get "attached" to anything material, while making sure to love and appreciate everything everyday...
Scotch broom has wreaked havoc on the northwest

You live life that most of us only dream about and obviously enjoying it—love that

Which island do you live on
Vashon, in the Puget Sound.
