Your sentiments are right on, but- and I'm speaking from an inside track here- you do not want to go trusting the United Nations to celebrate your sovereignty or right to be left alone.

The UN is not a friend of your cause.

I do not see the United Nations as having ownership of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. That was the vehicle used by the people of my grandfather and great grandfather‘s generation, to state on a global level something that has been true since the beginning of time and will forever be true. Our Human Rights are inalienable not because human beings say they are, but because God and Mother Nature say they are. I believe the question is whether we can recognize these fundamental truths and organize our behavior amongst ourselves in such a way that we succeed at avoiding oppression. The statement of the positive, was necessary because of the negative actions perpetrated by people upon other people previously. So, I 100% agree with you.
