Okay! I’m pushing my promised Substack on “Trans Issues” out to tomorrow.
I’m tired. Pain, which is gone now but was quite significant this morning, has a way of tiring a person out. I feel the need for a K-Drama, some hot tea, cuddles with my puppy, and an early bedtime! Ooooh…I think I’ll wash and dry the sheets, so they’re all soft and warm!
But! Before I head into K-Drama Land — What’s up with Bret?
Well….
I’ve spent the week being neck-deep in social media land, budget details, and editing my “memberships and subscriptions” account information and log in details. It’s all part of “The Divorce,” as I’ve managed an entire family’s worth of such things for roughly 28 years, and now — I get to create a much smaller, cleaned up and refreshed version with my information only! But, as I (and I’m sure all of you) now realize, such a project tends to be way, way, way more than we might hope, wish or imagine!
And so — I just happened to checking one final thing on my refreshed X account, when a new Bret Weinstein post (what do we call a “tweet” nowadays, I wonder?) popped up on my feed…and, I had to read it three times before I could believe what I was seeing.
While I often refrain from sharing content that I consider inappropriate or bad enough to be worthy of my time (I know, that sounds strange, but keep on reading) — in this case, many thousands of people have already seen it and so, I’m sharing it to give context to my reply, which follows.
I honestly wondered if someone hacked into his account! But, sadly, that is unlikely. And so — Bret absolutely deserves to be called out for his entirely inappropriate comment, and from what I saw in the comments, few to none of his followers were doing so in the way I have done. In fact, the first six comments I read were just as cringe as Bret’s comment, reminding me that “the apple truly does not fall too far from the tree.”
Bret Weinstein’s February 16th Tweet on X:
My comment to Bret, just before I unfollowed him:
Of all the people who have generally avoided succumbing to the recent disasters in the West, I've always felt less comfortable with you than others. I've never quite put my finger on it, and I'm a BIG advocate for diversity, which is why I've never even though of complaining. Why would I?
You do you, and I'll skim the valuable cream off the top, and leave the rest for you and others.
But, as an American Woman, I need to speak up here.
The issue, first of all, is truly NONE of your business. At all. Not one iota. In fact, I've yet to see Elon spending much (if any) time evaluating how other people live their lives, on the personal side of things. I think he's a bit too busy getting things done and living his life, for one -- and it's my guess he would consider it as inappropriate and wrong as I do.
Secondly, I am truly shocked at your blatant arrogance and disrespect offered to adult women who have chosen to be in relationship with Elon Musk. These women are YOUR equals, my dear. Or, perhaps they surpass you. Either way, you don't have the right to "defend them from themselves," or to judge them harshly and publicly for their choices. It's deeply unAmerican, to be honest.
All of which is to say I have NO opinion, nor an interest in prying into the private lives of Elon or his previous partners who are the mothers of his kids.
Regarding this Tweet of your, I am almost at a loss for words.
Although, obviously not! LOL.
What were you thinking? Are you trolling for views? Trying to go viral? Or...?
Either way, I will be unfollowing you, because there are plenty of other amazing people doing great work who do not have your particular brand of...well, I suppose in this case, we could call it unrecognized misogyny?
If Elon wants to father 100 children and 100 women are happy to bear his children, there will be 100 children who, at the very least, will have a head start in life as children who are wanted and provided for.
We have a plummeting birthrate, an aging population and the children who are entering America are either disappearing, unwanted pawns used to gain entry or worse, abused, at best, become the fiscal responsibility of the taxpayer, many of whom can barely provide for themselves.
RFK Jr has eleven children, Sean Duffy has ten… I remember years ago hearing a rapper tell a journalist he had “‘bout 30 kid wit my baby mamas”, but there could me more, he “ din’ know fo’ sho’”. The journalist asked whether he provided for them and he replied, “ Yeah. I give they mamas my good thang. I makin’ art”. A year later, he ODed, but his “artwork” didn’t go up in value. There was no revenue for to pay for them to be raised in a nice home in a safe neighborhood, healthy food, a mom or a nanny to take them to cool museums, water parks, swim lessons,guitar/piano lessons, art classes, dance lessons, ball games, money for college… But Brett has a problem with Elon? Unless Elon had a hereditary disease that he’s knowingly passing to his children, but not informing the mother, all the power to him. Go forth and multiply. He doesn’t have a God Complex. He’s been encouraging every American to have children. How precious they are. How important it is to have children. For humanity to continue. Also, if he was into the megalomaniacal eugenics thing, he’d be far more selective. He likes people. And he really enjoys children.
