Turning Washington State "Purple" Has Never Been More Important!
Today - the problem. Tomorrow - my letter to Jim Walsh.
Tuesday, February 18th, 2025
I live on Vashon Island. My community is one of the elite, wealth class enclaves scattered throughout King County — a county with more annual income than 46 of our nation’s state. And, my island is as “midnight blue” as they come.
(So was I, until I spent sixteen (16) months promoting Bernie Sanders’ campaign, witnessed the travesty known as the DNC, lost my “American Political Virginity” entirely, and saw clearly the monster the Democratic Party has returned to being — given that they were also the pro-slavery, Jim Crow Party of the American South for decades.)
Back to Vashon! My island being “extremely dark blue” is not inherently a problem. Diversity is great! Race, age, income, religion, and political differences are what make America a melting pot.
The problem comes when diversity is being squashed…and in Washington State…
Who is the party exercising near-monopolistic power?
Who experiences no hesitation when their actions ignore the will and desire of close to half the population of the state?
Who brings war room level aggressive, strategy, and willful domination to Olympia, our state’s capital?
The supposedly DEI-loving Democratic Party.
Check out this map (Gubernatorial Races in 2016). According to the website, the information comes from Washington Secretary of State Elections. General Election Results Governor - County Results, Washington Secretary of State Elections.
The colors seem completely wrong, don’t they?
Good catch! I noticed, too, and I’ve sent a message to the owner of the website, who actually has a “note” on his contact page, asking people to NOT complain about the colors. I stressed that I’m not complaining, but I’m wondering if HE made the color choice, or did the Secretary of State’s Office? I’ll update later, if I get a reply.
Does the color matter? YES!
The color choice gives a false impression that WA State is primarily Democrat Blue by sheer acreage, which would match appropriately with the Democratic Party’s Domination in Olympia.
The truth is, the Dems of WA are riding roughshod over most of the state, and I expect the Dems would like to disguise this fact, as it makes them look like the “Bullies of the West” that they are…
Of course, we’re not the only state facing the challenges of increasingly dense citified populations surrounded by rural regions rapidly losing representation or a voice in what happens in their state.
I adore this map, initially put together by Elon Musk, I believe, in the wake of the 2024 Presidential Election. Compare the information gained from seeing how counties voted, compared to the following map which lumps voters together by state.
2024 Presidential Election by County
2024 Presidential Election by State
NEVADANS MUST BE SO FRUSTRATED!
I spent a few years living in Reno, Nevada, and that state is as conservative as they come. How ridiculous for the entire state to vote Republican, but then be “swung blue” by Clark County (home of Las Vegas)?
Las Vegas, of course, is heavily influenced by Californians fleeing their state and (sadly) bringing their voting habits with them. There’s a reason big-name Californian Senators showed up in Las Vegas during the 2016 Democratic Primary, to stump for Hillary Clinton (and against Bernie Sanders).
Minnesota, Illinois, Virginia, New York and Maine tell a similar story, demonstrating how “city slickers” are substantially more likely to (1) dominate state politics by sheer number and (2) drive state agendas by voting primarily Democrat.
Why?
I’m sure there are several factors, but the most obvious one (in my opinion) likely has to do with living conditions.
When you live in a city, you are distanced from most of the things that make your life possible. Almost everything is imported into the city, and that means, the needs of communities producing everything from raw goods to factory finished goods (factories are usually placed in rural areas where taxes, living expenses, and therefore labor costs are much lower than in a city) are becoming less and less represented as “citified people with citified ideas, wants, and political influences” begin to dominate elections.
Washington state suffers from this dichotomy, creating a situation where city voters are so dominant, a mere 300,000 votes can sway the Governor’s Race in a state with over 8 million residents!!
Or not…?
You see, there’s only one way the below results (from 2024) could happen. And that’s if Republicans stayed home. If they didn’t show up and vote. So, let me say this clearly to the naysayers, the excuse makers, and the despondent:
“The problem isn’t too few Republican Voters. Instead, it’s the 4 million residents who didn’t show up and vote at all! And that, my dear friends, is a much easier problem to rectify.”
I don’t mind this map having the colors flipped. Why not?
Because — switching the colors around aligns with what’s happening in America today!
The Political Parties are flipping, sort of like Earth’s poles magnetically flip every so often.
Change is inevitable because corruption builds over time, eventually toppling the system it has slowly been destroying — and from the toppling chunks of stone and marble, a new system is formed — because life goes on.
Here’s how I see it...
It should come as no surprise that Berniecrats, who tried to save the Democratic Party from itself in 2015-2016, looked to the idea of a new, third “Independent Party” in America — such as, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as a Presidential Candidate!
The problem is, people interested in an “Independent Party” haven’t formed together into a Political Party with a platform OR the capacity to get “Independent Party Members” elected to office.
And, frankly, going it alone in today’s age is about as close to impossible as a run for political office as you can get.
We need Political Parties because we need a Shared Platform founded on Mutually Agreed Upon Principles that, despite our other diffrences, are What We All Believe is Best for the Nation.
I would LOVE to see elected representatives who are NOT beholden to either party, because all Political Parties (bastions of power and influence) draw the worst sorts of people at a higher percentage than the good sorts of people. Meaning, political parties are like humans — they come with a guaranteed expiration or death date — but unlike humans, Political Parties naturally reincarnate over time, again and again.
I BELIEVE — THE KEY IS TO KNOW WHICH POLITICAL PARTY IS BEST —AT THE TIME WE ARE CURRENTLY LIVING.
For myself, off the cuff, these are the things I believe in —
maximum freedom for human beings,
legally protected inalienable human rights,
the dispersion of power outward to the people (not its concentration),
the rule of law,
common sense and balance when it comes to advocating for special interest groups,
firmly in control national borders,
clear cut immigration procedures equally applied to everyone,
our best effort to abide by the Constitution,
separation of powers,
regular, transparent auditing of all government agencies,
adaptive rules that prevent abuses of power as soon as they are identified (agency capture could have been rooted out years ago),
voting in person in a voting booth with paper ballots on a National Holiday with government issued identification required,
Freedom of Speech,
Freedom to Bear Arms,
Freedom to Pursue Happiness,
Freedom to control what happens to our bodies and our childrens’ bodies,
Freedom from institutionalized control over thoughts and ideas,
a careful adherence to “state’s rights” versus an increasingly bloated federal government (neo-totalitarianism),
an educational system that reflects the will of the parents in the region,
a publicly funded educational campaign that ensures all American children grow up understanding “how a bill becomes a law,”
a nation of largely independent, diverse states choosing to “unite” for certain purposes, but not all.
The list goes on, but what I want you to notice is that very few of these items match the myriad “buzz words” — “agendas” — “talking points” — “wedge issues” that have been used to drive Americans into a 50/50 conflicted standstill, visciously picking each other to pieces like overly stressed hens trapped for too long in a coop filled with coyotes, raccoons and foxes in disguise.
IT’S TIME TO STOP LETTING OURSELVES BE DIVIDED…
IT’S TIME TO STOP BELIEVING THE FEAR MESSAGING…
IT’S TIME TO STOP FOLLOWING IN BLIND DESPERATION…
Tomorrow, you’ll see my letter to the Chairman of WA’s GOP — Jim Walsh — who is described in this way:
Jim Walsh has represented the 19th Legislative District in the Washington State House since 2016, when he stunned state politics by becoming the first Republican that LD19 had sent to Olympia in decades. While some media outlets focused on him breaking a “Blue Wall” in a traditionally Democrat district, Jim explains his election—and subsequent re-elections—in nonpartisan terms: “The people of LD19 don’t care so much about Republican or Democrat. They just want someone who will represent them and their values with passion and energy.”
