Respond. Do not react. Be Charlie's torchbearer when you can..

This image was shared on Facebook by a Native American storyteller who I have interviewed on my radio show and who I have long admired and respected.
And here is how I responded, which I think serves as an example of staying on the high road, the way Charlie Kirk did for all of those years, and creates the opportunity that this person may actually reconsider their position and grow and change for the better:
Dear _________,
The sum total of Charlie Kirk's life work is made up of two things:
(1) brilliant and positive reminders of wisdom often forgotten and
(2) earnestly thought out and carefully reasoned opinions which other may or may not share offered with clarity and a startling level of respect for those who currently hold differing views.
The truth is, America can only remain a land of celebrated diversity IF people can "preach what one person considers hate and violence" in safety, because for every person who disagrees, other people nod their head and say, "Yes, that is true and important to consider."
The people seeking to justify Charlie's assassination (like you) are essentially saying they're OKAY with America's melting pot being stifled and "color washed," so long as the diversity allowed matches their own.
Your post here is very harmful to the integrity and the health of a peaceful society.
Greasing the wheels and smoothing out a pathway for the justification of murder, based upon the justification of a violent form of cancel culture is disappointing, and actively increases the likelihood that the volatile, radicalized, and mentally ill individuals in our society will look at you as a role model or authority figure and decide that following through on their plans to snuff out a life is OK because look at all the people who agree with that idea — including you — a man who speaks from a position of perceived wisdom and authority.
And yet I'm not trying to cancel you.
I'm not going to call the police and report you for encouraging violence. For justifying murder. I'm not going to block you on Facebook. I'm not going to sit here and insult you.
I'm going to speak with reasoned clarity and logic and suggest that you take some time to reconsider your position and you ask yourself why you even have a desire to make it OK that Charlie Kirk was killed in the way that he was?
