Puh-leez!

It’s really sad to see Robert Reich become such a pundit, when he initially seemed like a genuinely honest guy who was explaining things truthfully. Take this situation, for example: tariffs increase the price of products imported from other countries. That motivates me to purchase products that are manufactured in the United States, which improves our economy and creates jobs for American citizens.
Also, buying something made in the USA is better for the environment because it doesn’t travel halfway—or three-quarters of the way—around the planet. If I choose to spend more money on something made in India, Pakistan, Bolivia, or China, that’s my choice. But people who consider themselves liberal and progressive might want to remember that they’ve spent the past few decades encouraging others to “buy local” and be less materialistic.
Buying local IS buying made in the USA!
Not to mention —less materialistic means shopping at thrift stores or buying from neighbors — when you even need to buy something at all.
And, that’s recycling/re-using at its finest, is it not?
How ironic that hatred for the current president has led some liberal progressives to advocate for purchasing cheap products from as far away as possible—items that require copious amounts of fuel to transport, contributing to “supposed” human-caused climate change.
The lower prices also promote wasteful consumerism: people buy more, own more, and discard more when things break quickly and end up in landfills. Seriously! What gives?
This quote by Robert is crafted for people who stopped thinking for themselves a long time ago—people who jumped on the big blue bus, nod their heads, and believe whatever they’re told, as long as it comes from someone claiming the moral high ground while virtue signaling left, right, and sideways.
Apparently, such people no longer care whether their opinions or shared memes make logical sense or are even remotely accurate.
Come on, people! Do better!
