On Pins & Needles
Waiting on the courts, with unavoidable dread and a large helping of intentional hope.
Dear Freedom Friends,
I hope you don’t mind being called my Freedom Friends! For all our differences, this is one common yearning I believe we all share, and so it’s how I see you. Friends in search of the same, beautiful promise that has been championed again and again throughout human history. Freedom is everything, which is why it is forever under attack by those who want it only for themselves.
Tomorrow, I will post my introduction. Backwards, right? That’s okay, as long as we get there in the end. Today, I want to share great news, amidst a steady stream of not so great and occasionally very bad news. I hope this will bring you relief and hope, as it did me.
Who hasn’t heard of the FDA Court Case, where they asked for 75 years, to provide 3 months worth of documents to our citizenry? If you, don’t worry. This isn’t exactly making the FDA look good, so mainstream media has been mostly hands-off. By the end of this short article, you’ll be in the know!
I’ll go down the FOIA rabbit hole on another day (it’s quite twisty and cool). For now, FOIA stands for Freedom of Information Act. You know, that pesky idea that if our tax dollars fund a government activity or a regulatory agency, then those folks are working for us and we have a right to know what they’re doing. Down to the last detail.
Weeks ago, the FDA argued to a judge that providing us, the people, with the information they already had in their hands, would be such an arduous task that they needed 75 years to complete the job. The information in question was provided to the FDA by the Pharmaceutical Industry seeking FDA-approval for their new mRNA technology over a three (3) month period.
Sort of like, Jane picked apples every day for a month and brought them to my house. Now, she wants them back. Welp, I think I need 75 years to get the job done. Make sense to you? Me neither.
So, imagine the tremendous joy and relief (x10) that shot through me, as I learned on Friday that the judge had denied the request and threw in a few choice quotes along the way! The judge’s order, in its entirety, is below.
Read It & Grin! And, from my heart, my most sincerest thanks go to Mark T. Pittman.
