Dear Freedom Friends,
When I watch Science Fiction movies, there is one specific flaw that obliterates my “suspension of disbelief” every single time. That moment when a character, standing upon an alien planet, pulls off her helmet, sucks in a deep breath, and says, “We’re good. The atmosphere has adequate oxygen!”
I don’t want to ruin future movies for you, but in the same way that Science Fiction enthusiasts ignore this unsolvable problem…many people during Covid have ignored the importance of what we breathe, as well.
What we breathe MATTERS, both here and on exciting new planets. Sure! We need enough oxygen…but we also need “exquisitely exact levels” of other gases, and an absence of almost everything else.
The below examples (excerpted from the linked article at the bottom) illustrate exactly how vulnerable we are, should there be the slightest change to the atmospheric (surface level) gases naturally present here on Earth (much less on an alien planet):
ON EARTH: Fresh air has around 0.04% CO2.
(1) Navy toxicity experts set the exposure limits for submarines carrying a female crew to 0.8% CO2 based on animal studies which indicated an increased risk for stillbirths.
(2) Mammals who were chronically exposed to 0.3% CO2, demonstrate teratogenicity (birth defects).
(3) These birth defects included (and were not limited to): irreversible neuron damage in the offspring, reduced spatial learning caused by brainstem neuron apoptosis and reduced circulating levels of the insulin-like growth factor-1.
(4) With significant impact on three readout parameters (morphological, functional, marker) this chronic 0.3% CO2 exposure has to be defined as being toxic.
(5) Additional data exists on the exposure of chronic 0.3% CO2 in adolescent mammals causing neuron destruction, which includes less activity, increased anxiety and impaired learning and memory.
(6) There is also data indicating testicular toxicity in adolescents at CO2 inhalation concentrations above 0.5%.
We are sensitive creatures. Swim too deep and rise too quickly = the bends. Climb too high too quickly = altitude sickness. Core internal body temperature drops a few degrees = hypothermia. Core internal temperature rises a few degrees = heatstroke. Too little Vitamin C = scurvy (but long before that happens, there are less obvious problems that occur). Too little Vitamin D = rickets (a disease of modern industrial poverty, but before that happens, you suffer many other problems, including a weakened immune system).
The list goes on. But, why does this matter? Simple.
As explained in more detail in the linked article at the bottom: WEARING A MASK for more than 5 minutes results in carbon dioxide levels of 1.41% to 3.2% of the inhaled air. Especially an N95.
Maybe YOU are telecommuting from home, and you only wear a mask for an hour, once a week, to buy groceries. But, what’s happening to millions of children, forced to mask for 8-9 hours a day, 5 days a week?
What’s happening to workers in mandate-heavy states, who are wearing tight-fitting masks 30-40 hours a week? Especially the elderly with aging brains who need healthy air to breathe? Or pregnant women?
How much worse is the effect on those people you see running or riding their bikes - with a mask on - as their body struggles to metabolize and athletically perform properly with a chemical composition of air that may be more like an alien planet than the Earth we evolved to live upon? Or were created for?
We must acknowledge what has happened, harms caused AND unacknowledged or denied…and we must do our absolute best to CORRECT THE RECORD.
For three years, children, teens and college students (almost entirely unthreatened by Covid) were forced to poison their bodies by breathing dangerous air for upwards of 40 hours a week (or longer)…for three biologically important years of their reproductive, physical and mental/psychological development.
Bonus Question:
Anxiety skyrocketed amongst children during Covid. How does a person feel, when they can’t catch their breath or their ability to breath is even slightly prevented for a few seconds? Imagine being trapped in a sinking car? A skier lands upside down in powder and it takes seven seconds to dig your way out? You’re wrestling with a friend who puts you in a headlock? Your bra is too tight! Or, maybe you swam to the bottom of the deep end of the pool and it took a few seconds longer to swim to the surface than you expected? How do you feel?
PANIC. ANXIETY. INSTINCTUAL FEAR.
Without air, we die in 3 minutes. We are hardwired to be sensitive to anything that makes it harder to breath. And we just forced children (down to the age of two) to wear a thick cover over their nose and mouth, for hours at a time.
FORCED. Which, in and of itself creates a terrible sense of powerlessness — adding to panic, anxiety and fear.
We even kicked families off airplanes when their 36 month old cried and resisted being, essentially - in a toddler’s mind - smothered.
SCIENCE MATTERS.
INCONVENIENT TRUTHS MATTER.
BIOLOGICAL NEEDS & EFFECTS MATTER.
