In life, there are two pathways forward. The ones we choose on purpose and the ones we do not expect. Doors and windows open and shut throughout our lives, and most are far beyond our control. As such, it’s important to know what we value, because...
If I’m creating my path forward, I’ll want it to align with my values.
If I’m caught by surprise, knowing my own values will make for a better reaction.
Here is my Top Ten List:
Honesty & Integrity – A society that values truth in governance, media, and personal interactions fosters trust and accountability.
Respect & Civility – Encouraging respectful discourse, even in disagreement, ensures a strong and pluralistic society.
Hard Work & Dedication – Valuing effort, perseverance, and self-reliance helps create a thriving and self-sufficient nation.
Service & Self-Sacrifice – Recognizing the importance of contributing to the greater good, including military, public service, and community engagement.
Human Rights & Individual Liberties – Defending freedom of speech, religion, our right to bear arms, and personal autonomy ensures a nation that protects its citizens' rights.
Democratic Governance & Citizen Sovereignty – Ensuring that elections are free, fair, conducted on a national holiday, and limited to citizens maintains the legitimacy of representative government.
Pluralism & Freedom of Expression – A society that embraces diversity of thought, lifestyles, and ideas without coercion or censorship fosters true freedom.
Rule of Law & Equal Justice – A legal system that applies laws fairly and upholds constitutional principles ensures stability and trust in institutions.
Debate, Diplomacy & Strength in Adversity – Encouraging open discussion while standing firm against threats, both foreign and domestic, protects national interests.
Constitutional Fidelity – Adhering to the U.S. Constitution, even when unpopular, ensures long-term freedom and a government that serves the people.
How about you? What do you care more about? What is a necessity for our nation to thrive, not just survive? Please share in the comment section — I truly want to know.
Great list, March! I concurr 100%.
